Social media is said to be the next preferred mode of communication in the workplace, especially since the younger generation of workers will soon make up the majority of the workforce. How should enterprises in Asia prepare themselves for this?

We live in a day and age where social media interaction is unavoidable-according to a ComScore report, Singaporeans spend nearly an average of 4.4 hours a day on social media. Enterprises in Asia need to better prepare themselves by first developing social media guidelines for their organisation.

Instead of cowering from social media due to compliance fears, enterprises should take the same precautions they've always needed to in the past by focusing on all applicable regulations and putting the right governance processes in place to comply with them. Organisations that are thinking about and acting on such issues now can begin reaping the business benefits today and avoid exposing the company to unnecessary risk later.
