Big Data Analytics (BDA), Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), are among emerging technologies that will be powered by a new Chinese-Malaysian partnership to provide enterprise level, end to end cloud solutions in the ASEAN region.
China's Alibaba Cloud - the cloud computing arm of Alibaba - and Malaysia's data analytics and AI specialist Fusionex have officially announced a partnership to better drive BDA, Machine Learning, AI and IoT in the region, they said.
Last month, Computerworld reported that Alibaba Cloud has surpassed one million customers worldwide in the quarter ending June 2017. This is an increase of 137,000 customers over the previous quarter, and contributed to 96 per cent year-on-year growth for the company's cloud computing revenue, compared to the same quarter last year.
Commenting on the partnership, Fusionex chief executive officer, Dato' Seri Ivan Teh said: "The sophisticated cloud services provided by Alibaba Cloud and data technology offered by Fusionex will complement each other and create synergy in servicing our customers more swiftly and effectively as well as providing them the opportunity to scale at a much faster rate."

The partnership is also the first major move following Fusionex's decision to delist from the London Stock Exchange AIM. Teh had said the becoming a private company would allow more autonomy in "crafting and executing long-term strategies instead of focusing too much on short term KPIs (key performance indicators)." How this will work

Essentially, the collaboration will move forward with Fusionex offering its big data solutions powered by Alibaba Cloud's scalable and infrastructure.

Raymond Ma, who is head of ASEAN & ANZ, Alibaba Cloud, explained,  "As we enter a new era of digital transformation, businesses across the ASEAN region require new levels of support to tap into the emerging opportunities."

Ma said Alibaba Cloud's cloud computing infrastructure will also bring data intelligence services, ranging from data processing to machine learning.

He added: "Machine intelligence and cloud computing combined with big data analytics will play a crucial role as the computing infrastructure."

Teh said Fusionex will provide advanced big data solutions for customers, across various sectors such as financial services, trade facilitation, eCommerce, retail, aviation, travel and hospitality as well as manufacturing.
