The Bundang, South Korea-based provider of system software solutions, TmaxSoft, has announced on March 26 "its strategic expansion into Southeast Asia with a head office in Singapore" and that it had appointed Singapore-based ICT products and services provider ECS Computers "authorised distributor for its entire portfolio, including middleware (JEUS), database management solution (Tibero RDBMS) and application performance monitoring solutions (SysMaster)."
TmaxSoft executives said upon this announcement that their company-which has been specialising "in mainframe rehosting, RDBMS, Big Data solutions, and middleware since 1997"-was on a "rapid growth" track "internationally" that spanned "branches in Japan, China and the US, and in recent years, Russia, UK and Brazil." They added that the extension of their business into this region was prompted by the potential they saw here and that they also intend to set up shop in India and Australia.
"Southeast Asia is a hyper-growth market and we see the tremendous opportunity here. Customers are increasingly looking for more innovative software solutions that will help reduce the total cost of ownership, enhance the performance and provide complete stability of their IT systems. This can increase the supportability and agility of their IT operations,' said TmaxSoft Singapore's Managing Director, David Kim. "With a strong sales organisation and channel ecosystem in place, we look forward to our success and further expansion into [other] territories, namely, India and Australia."
One of the areas in which TmaxSoft has made a name for itself is that of mainframe modernisation, where it currently offers customers two options: mainframe redevelopment, whereby the systems are redeveloped "on a more cost-efficient and flexible 'open platform'"; and, mainframe rehosting, which involves moving applications, resources and data from legacy systems onto 'open platforms'.
