B2B e-commerce platform DHgate has integrated and deployed MasterCard's MasterPass to allow small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in China to strengthen their cross-border e-commerce business.
The move will "enable safer, more convenient online transactions [...to help] sustain Chinese SMEs' activities around the world," said Shen Hao, vice president of DHgate in a press statement dated 19 August 2014.
MasterPass is a digital wallet that stores payment details such as mailing addresses and credit card information in a secure online cloud. Consumers are thus only required to sign into their MasterPass accounts and confirm the purchase instead of manually filling in their payment details every time they shop online.
Launched in February 2013, MasterPass is currently accepted by over 40,000 merchants in 10 markets including China, Singapore, Australia, Canada, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, UK and the US.
